Frequently asked questions
Where should I start if I need to choose a battery for solar PV?
With the reference guide to salt batteries, which explains what they are, how long they last and what determines the price. Then the LCOS calculator, to compare quotes on the kWh delivered over the whole lifetime rather than on the list price. If the system already exists, the retrofit guide tells you when the kit is enough and when it is worth replacing the inverter.
Are the calculators free, and is the data entered saved?
They are free and require no registration. The calculations run in your browser: the figures you enter are not sent to Heiwit.
Do the guides also apply to batteries from other brands?
Yes. The formulas, the parameters to check in the datasheet and the selection criteria are general. Where Heiwit data appears, this is indicated.
Where can I find manuals, datasheets and certificates?
In the Technical documentation section of this page and on the product pages. The PDFs have selectable text and are the same documents supplied to installers.
How is this collection updated?
Every time Heiwit publishes a new guide, calculator or tutorial. Older content stays on the list as long as it is accurate; outdated content is removed or replaced.
