Le sodium ion batteries are emerging as one of the most promising technologies in energy storage. Unlike conventional lithium batteries, they use abundant and readily available materials, reducing dependence on critical raw materials such as lithium and cobalt. This characteristic makes them more sustainable, economic and strategic for Europe to strengthen its energy and industrial independence.

We are proud to announce that Heiwit was selected to participate as an expert in an important meeting organised by the European Economic and Social Committee, the official advisory body of the European Union.

The event will be held on 15 September, at the JDE Building of the EESC in Brussels, and will bring together representatives of institutions, companies, researchers and experts to define common strategies and development policies related to the production of sodium batteries in Europe.

The invitation from the European institutions confirms the importance of Heiwit's work in developing innovative and environmentally friendly storage solutions, in line with the objectives of the Green Deal and the needs of an energy market increasingly focused on security and sustainability.

Thanks to our efforts, we have developed and tested sodium ion battery prototypes capable of guaranteeing high performance, long life and lower costs compared to conventional technologies, making a concrete contribution to the energy transition.

What to expect from the Brussels meeting

The CCMI/250 Study Group on the Sodium Battery Manufacturing Sector will have the task of analysing the state of the art of sodium battery production in Europe, identifying technological challenges, market opportunities and supporting policies to speed up its adoption.
