Ces mati\u00e8res organiques subissent un processus de transformation chimique appel\u00e9 lithification, qui les transforme en gisements de carbone riches en \u00e9nergie, tels que le charbon, le p\u00e9trole et le gaz naturel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Face \u00e0 cette information, certains pourraient penser : <strong>s'il s'agit de ressources naturelles, pourquoi s'en pr\u00e9occuper autant ?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ces combustibles se caract\u00e9risent par une teneur \u00e9lev\u00e9e en carbone et en hydrog\u00e8ne et sont utilis\u00e9s comme principales sources d'\u00e9nergie dans le monde entier pour la production d'\u00e9lectricit\u00e9, le chauffage, les transports et l'industrie. Cependant, leur combustion lib\u00e8re de grandes quantit\u00e9s de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre et d'autres polluants dans l'atmosph\u00e8re, contribuant ainsi au r\u00e9chauffement de la plan\u00e8te et \u00e0 la pollution de l'air, avec de graves cons\u00e9quences pour la sant\u00e9 humaine et l'environnement. Voyons cela plus en d\u00e9tail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Combustibles fossiles : utilisations, avantages et inconv\u00e9nients<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.storiaeconomica.it\/pdf\/2005.2.281.pdf\" title=\"\">L'utilisation des combustibles fossiles a des racines historiques qui remontent \u00e0 la fin du 18e si\u00e8cle<\/a>, pendant la r\u00e9volution industrielle en Europe et en Am\u00e9rique du Nord. Cette p\u00e9riode a \u00e9t\u00e9 marqu\u00e9e par une forte augmentation de la demande d'\u00e9nergie par les industries, principalement satisfaite par l'utilisation du charbon jusqu'aux ann\u00e9es 1950. L'Angleterre, en particulier, a b\u00e9n\u00e9fici\u00e9 de la pr\u00e9sence de gisements de charbon qui ont aliment\u00e9 le d\u00e9but de la r\u00e9volution industrielle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Au cours du 20e si\u00e8cle, l'utilisation des combustibles fossiles s'est consid\u00e9rablement accrue<\/strong>, le p\u00e9trole rempla\u00e7ant progressivement le charbon comme principale source d'\u00e9nergie, car il est plus efficace sur le plan \u00e9conomique et environnemental. En 1955, les combustibles fossiles repr\u00e9sentaient 52% des besoins \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques mondiaux, contre 64% en 1970.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Actuellement, les combustibles fossiles couvrent plus de 85% des besoins \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques mondiaux, le p\u00e9trole contribuant \u00e0 hauteur de 40%, le charbon \u00e0 hauteur de 26% et le gaz naturel \u00e0 hauteur de 23%. Ces chiffres refl\u00e8tent la d\u00e9pendance mondiale \u00e0 l'\u00e9gard de ces ressources pour r\u00e9pondre aux besoins \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques quotidiens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Risques li\u00e9s aux combustibles fossiles<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On parle beaucoup aujourd'hui du danger que repr\u00e9sentent les combustibles fossiles pour la sant\u00e9 et l'environnement, mais pourquoi n'arr\u00eatons-nous pas de les utiliser ? C'est parce que <strong>pr\u00e9sentent des caract\u00e9ristiques avantageuses :<\/strong> sont tr\u00e8s concentr\u00e9s en \u00e9nergie par rapport \u00e0 leur volume, peuvent \u00eatre facilement transport\u00e9s et stock\u00e9s, sont compatibles avec des machines simples et sont relativement peu co\u00fbteux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Toutefois, les avantages ne compensent pas les inconv\u00e9nients. Ces combustibles produisent des polluants qui sont lib\u00e9r\u00e9s dans l'air lors de leur combustion, comme le dioxyde de soufre, qui contribue aux pluies acides. En outre, l'utilisation de combustibles fossiles <strong>entra\u00eene une augmentation de la quantit\u00e9 de dioxyde de carbone dans l'atmosph\u00e8re, un gaz responsable du r\u00e9chauffement climatique.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les combustibles fossiles pr\u00e9sentent \u00e9galement d'autres dangers. Les d\u00e9versements de p\u00e9trole lors des op\u00e9rations d'extraction et de transport constituent une menace constante pour les \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes marins et c\u00f4tiers. En outre, l'extraction du charbon peut contaminer les ressources en eaux souterraines, provoquant un drainage minier acide et endommageant les habitats aquatiques. Les d\u00e9chets solides, tels que les mat\u00e9riaux extraits lors de l'extraction du charbon, contribuent encore davantage \u00e0 la pression sur l'environnement et \u00e0 la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 d'une \u00e9limination responsable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Un autre point critique est que<strong> les combustibles fossiles ne sont pas renouvelables, <\/strong>ce qui signifie que leur disponibilit\u00e9 est limit\u00e9e et qu'elles s'\u00e9puisent en raison de la forte demande d'\u00e9nergie.
